Born and raised in Utah, I have had an incredible affection for art for the last 43 years. Although I’ve always had a love of visual art it was during my first job as a television camera operator, producer, and director I learned to understand vision and perspective.
When my son started elementary school in the greater Los Angeles area, I quickly understood the importance and need for children to learn art and had the opportunity to lead the schools “Arts Attack” program for 6 years. I excitedly watched as the young children blossomed into incredible artists. It was amazing to see how children have little fear — everything is from their hearts and souls.
I also taught art at a community art school called “Young at Art”. During this time frame I enjoyed creating my own artwork. My skills and style progressed, and I entered many art shows and won several awards including a few “Best in Show”. My interests expanded to include pastels, watercolor, acrylic and oils.
Wanting to engage my mother in my love of art, I enrolled us both in a ceramics class and quickly learned I also loved working with clay.
During the next 5 years I refined my pottery and ceramic skills, again earning awards for my work in various art shows. Through my sculpting networks, I met and began studying under Delesprie, world-renowned bronze master sculptor and have continued my work under her for the past 8 years. Through my work with Delesprie, I have not only learned much about anatomy, but also how to critically study each subject and replicate it as closely as possible. My sculpting work continues to thrive under the direction and support of Delesprie.
Much of my artwork is commissioned and includes predominantly paintings and sculptures of people, dogs and horses. I’m drawn to these subjects because I’m able to connect with them and feel their personalities through their eyes and individual expressions.
I believe my artistic ability has been a gift and a drive given to me and it continues to affect all facets of my life. I’m passionate about the complete process—from conceiving an idea to creating the final intricate details.
My art journey has been a wonderful adventure that continues to fulfill me.
